Here we go, last round of the group phase in this 2011/2012 edition. We can expect high intensity games especially in group F with the big clash between Chelsea and Valencia. This match is a real final. The two teams have 8 points each. Chelsea took one point at Mestalla in September (1-1), and can content with of goalless draw to finish above the Spanish. But, in the case of a draw with goals, Blues will be eliminated if Leverkusen take at least one point against Genk. Of course, a defeat will condemn the loser. So, the two teams will start this game with the goal of winning and we should see a spectacular meeting.
In Group F, Arsenal are already qualified an assured to finish first. Marseille seem in good shape, but they will play against Borussia Dortmund in Germany against a team which doesn’t totally forget the qualification. Olympiakos will host Arsenal who come with a youngsters squad.
In Group G, the game between APOEL and Shakhtar hasn’t a real interest because the Ukrainians are already out of all European competitions. APOEL are qualified and they will try to finish firsts in winning. The other game appears much more interesting, with Porto who have to beat their opponent. Zenit need just a draw, but it will be tough to resist to Portuguese assaults in Dragao stadium.
The last group is not the more spectacular with Barcelona and Milan already first and second. Plzen will be in Europa with a draw whereas BATE will match Barcelano without all their stars. |
